Signing Of Paris Climate Change Agreement

Climate change is a global emergency that transcends national borders. This is an issue that requires coordinated solutions at all levels and international cooperation to help countries move towards a low-carbon economy. By quantifying the damage done to society by CO2 pollution, Trump sees America as an island apart – and we all know what climate change is doing to the islands. His view on the Paris agreement was that it was unfair to the United States, so countries like India and China were free to use fossil fuels while the United States had to reduce its carbon. In addition to formal intergovernmental negotiations, countries, cities and regions, businesses and civil society members around the world are taking steps to accelerate climate cooperation efforts to support the Paris Agreement as part of the Global Climate Agenda. The long-term objective of the Paris Agreement is to keep the increase in global average temperature well below 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) above pre-industrial levels; and to continue efforts to limit the increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius, while acknowledging that this would significantly reduce the risks and effects of climate change. This should require a rapid reduction in emissions to achieve „a balance between anthropogenic emissions from sources and the reduction of greenhouse gases from wells“ in the second half of the 21st century. It also means increasing the parties` ability to adapt to the negative effects of climate change and „reconciling financial flows with a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and climate-resistant development.“ This strategy included energy and climate policy, including the 20/20/20 targets, namely a 20% reduction in carbon DIOXIDE (CO2) emissions, an increase in the market share of renewable energy to 20% and a 20% increase in energy efficiency. [12] Among other things, countries need to report their greenhouse gas inventories and progress towards their targets, so that external experts can assess their success. Countries should also review their commitments by 2020 and present new targets every five years to further reduce emissions. They must participate in a „comprehensive state of affairs“ to measure collective efforts in order to achieve the long-term goals of the Paris Agreement. In the meantime, developed countries must also assess the financial assistance they will provide to developing countries to help them reduce their emissions and adapt to the effects of climate change.

The American people believe in climate change – and they are determined to address it. The Paris Agreement was launched at the signing on April 22, 2016 (Earth Day) at a ceremony in New York. [59] After the agreement was ratified by several EU member states in October 2016, there were enough countries that had ratified the agreement to produce enough greenhouse gases in the world for the agreement to enter into force. [60] The agreement came into force on November 4, 2016. [2] The Paris Agreement, marked by a historic agreement once adopted, owes its success not only to the return of a favourable framework for climate protection and sustainable development, but also to efforts to review the management of international climate negotiations.
